Quick answerLocalSpindle of Wisconsin repairs plate rolls, section rolls and CNC tube benders across the state, including Davi, Roundo, Faccin, Akyapak, Carell, HACO, Ercolina, BLM and Pines. We fix roll alignment and parallelism, hydraulic pressure and synchronization, drives and gearboxes, mandrels and clamp dies, and controls.
From our techs
Plate rolls: parallel and in sync
A plate roll that produces a cone when you wanted a cylinder usually has rolls that aren’t parallel, or side cylinders that aren’t moving together. We check roll position side to side, hydraulic synchronization, and the position feedback on CNC rolls, then adjust or repair the valves and sensors.
Drive problems on rolls show up as slipping, noise or stalling under load: worn hydraulic motors, gearboxes or brakes. Heavy fabrication shops in Wisconsin, from tank and vessel builders to agricultural and construction equipment makers, push rolls hard, so we check them under real load.
Tube benders
On CNC tube benders, wrinkles, flattening and inconsistent angles come from tooling setup, mandrel position, pressure die force and the bend, rotation and feed axes. We check the tooling stack and the machine’s axes, and repair hydraulics and drives as needed. Many Wisconsin benders make exhaust, frame and furniture parts at volume, so we pay attention to repeatability, not just one good bend.
Symptoms
What you're seeing, and what it usually means
The alarm names the axis or the unit. These are the causes we find behind it most often.
| What you’re seeing | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Coning or uneven radius on rolled plate | Rolls out of parallel or cylinders out of sync. |
| Plate slips or roll stalls | Drive motor, gearbox, brake or low pressure. |
| Tube wrinkles inside the bend | Mandrel position, wiper die or pressure die setup. |
| Bend angle varies part to part | Springback compensation, axis feedback or hydraulic drift. |
| Hydraulic leaks or slow motion | Seals, valves or pump wear. |
| Control axis faults | Encoders, drives or wiring. |

Example service call
Four-roll plate roll producing cones
The call
A tank fabricator in Manitowoc County found rolled shells coming out slightly coned, worse on thicker plate.
What we did
- Phone. We asked whether the roll position display matched side to side. It showed a small difference under load.
- On site. One side cylinder’s position sensor was loose and the control was correcting to a false reading.
- Fix. Secured and recalibrated the sensor, then checked synchronization through the full range.
- Check. Rolled a test shell on thick plate with an even diameter end to end.
The result. Back to round shells the same visit.
