Injection molding machine repair in Wisconsin

Hydraulic, all-electric and hybrid molding presses repaired on site: barrel heater zones, screws and check rings, clamp and toggle problems, ejectors, hydraulics, drives and controls.

What we fix

Techs from the Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay regions.

Quick answerLocalSpindle of Wisconsin repairs injection molding machines across the state, including Engel, Arburg, Milacron and Van Dorn, Nissei, Toshiba, Husky, Sumitomo Demag, Krauss-Maffei, Haitian and JSW. We fix heater zones and thermocouples, screw and check ring wear, clamp and toggle problems, ejectors, hydraulics, drives and controls.

From our techs

Inconsistent parts start at the barrel

Short shots, flash and shot-to-shot variation get blamed on the mold or the material, and sometimes that’s right. But a worn check ring, a heater band that’s failing, a thermocouple reading wrong or a screw that’s worn will all cause variation that no process tweak fully fixes. We check heats zone by zone, cushion consistency and the injection unit before touching the process.

Wisconsin has a strong plastics industry, from custom molders to captive shops making parts for appliances, boats and equipment. Presses run around the clock, so we plan repairs around mold changes when we can.

Clamp, toggle and hydraulics

On toggle machines, worn bushings and pins and poor lubrication show up as uneven clamp force and flash. On hydraulic machines, it’s pumps, valves and seals. We check platen parallelism, tie bar stretch, lubrication, and hydraulic pressures and temperatures. Hydraulic oil that runs hot means a cooler, valve or pump problem worth catching early.

Electric presses

All-electric presses trade hydraulics for servo motors, ballscrews and belts. Their faults look more like CNC faults, and we troubleshoot them the same way: drives, motors, encoders and mechanics.

Symptoms

What you're seeing, and what it usually means

The alarm names the axis or the unit. These are the causes we find behind it most often.

Example service call

Molder chasing short shots on one press

The call

A custom molder in Winnebago County had one press producing occasional short shots on a job that ran fine on a sister press.

What we did

  1. Phone. We asked about cushion. It varied more than usual between shots.
  2. On site. Heats were steady, but cushion variation pointed to the check ring. Pulling the screw showed a worn ring.
  3. Fix. Replaced the check ring assembly and checked the screw and barrel wear.
  4. Check. Cushion steady and parts full over a long run.

The result. Short shots stopped. We noted barrel wear for future planning.

Injection molding machine: tips from our techs

01

Watch cushion

Cushion variation is the earliest sign of check ring wear.

02

Keep the oil cooler clean

Hot oil kills seals and pumps.

03

Grease the toggle

Toggle wear from poor lubrication causes flash and costly repairs.
